Step Up is a new initiative that promotes a culture of life-long leadership development for Duke students. Programs offered through Step Up develop leadership skills through self-awareness exercises, practical experience and reflection, directing participants toward ethical and engaged citizenship.

“Leadership experience, particularly ethical leadership, is a critical characteristic that distinguishes Duke students from their peers,” said Zoila Airall, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs for Campus Life. “Students who take the initiative to explore leadership through Step Up programs while here at Duke will be a step ahead of their peers when they step out into the world beyond Duke.”

Offered for the first time in the Fall of 2009, Step Up is a partnership between Duke University's Division of Student Affairs and the Fuqua School of Business/Coach K Center on Leadership & Ethics (COLE). All programs offered through Step up are founded on the COLE model, and address one or more of the model’s Six Domains of LeadershipApply for Leadership Coaching!
