Duke has a variety of safety initiatives in action on and around campus, and in areas frequented by students. This page provides links for more information on how campus efforts are making Duke a safe place to be.

Emergency text messaging: students, staff and faculty can register here to receive emergency text messages on a cell phone. http://emergency.duke.edu

Other services:
Help Phones: there are more than 500 Help Phones on green posts around campus that dial directly to Duke Police, many capped with blue strobe lights. These phones allow officers to know where you are and that assistance is needed. They can be used to request any assistance, to report suspicious activity, unsafe conditions or crimes, or to request a SafeRide.
SafeRides: available to and from on-campus locations (where bus service is not available) and from campus to destinations within the service boundary. Free rides are available daily from 5pm to 7am. http://www.duke.edu/police/services/vanrides.php
Charlene's Safe Ride: private transportation service providing rides for a charge, payable by DukeCard through a Flexible Spending Account. http://www.charlenesaferide.com
